Alternative Dispute Resolution Resources

Disputes may be resolved in ways that do not necessitate receiving a decision from a court. Such ways include mediation, (where an acceptable, impartial and neutral third party who has no decision making authority will work with the parties to negotiate an acceptable settlement of issues in dispute), and arbitration (where an independent private and impartial third party is given authority by the parties to make a decision on how the conflict will be settled). Because of the costly and complex nature of both the law and the subject matter of intellectual property disputes, the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada has developed the accompanying list of experienced intellectual property practitioner members of the Institute, who are willing to provide dispute resolution services for such disputes.

The Institute does not certify the quality, training or experience of those on this list, and does not take any role directly or indirectly in dispute resolution processes which may be carried out by those who may be selected from this list. This list is being provided only as a public service in an effort to facilitate effective resolute resolution in intellectual property disputes.
