A new 4-course certification program leading to the designation of
Trademark Administrator 

What is a Trademark Administrator?

A trademark administrator primarily assists a trademark agent or lawyer practicing in the field of trademark law. Duties cover a wide range of tasks related to the administration of trademarks such as conducting trademark searches, filing trademark applications, paying government fees, docketing deadlines, corresponding with the Trade-marks Office, drafting letters to clients, assisting with the administration of contentious proceedings.

Who should participate?

There are no pre-requisites to enroll in the courses. They are primarily intended for trademark assistants, trademark paralegals, and trademark clerks seeking the certification of trademark administrator. The courses will also be of interest to individuals wishing to acquire knowledge of trademark administration.

What is the program format?

The courses are delivered online and are self-paced. The study materials include quizzes (Q&A), as well as practice assignments accompanied by model answers. Students will have access to a trademark agent who will answer questions and provide guidance in “Ask the Expert” format.

There is no time limit to complete the courses which are offered on demand.

Do I have to start with Course 1?

There is a natural progression in the flow of the 4 courses, however, you may elect to begin with the course that best satisfies your career needs.

All 4 courses must be completed to sit for the examination and obtain the certification of trademark administrator.

You may enroll in any one of the courses without seeking the certification.

Course 1 - Trademark Foundations and Lifecyle

Courses 2, 3 and 4 will be launched throughout 2018.

Tuition Fees

Course 1:  $399 (member) / $599 (non member)

Course 2, 3, 4 (per course):  $499 (member) / $699 (non member)

All 4 courses (pre-paid):  $1,599 (member) / $2,399 (non member) 

IPIC Membership – Affiliate Category

IP Administrators are eligible for IPIC Affiliate membership. A 50% discount on member dues will be given to new Affiliate members who are enrolled in the program. The discount can be offered for multiple years as long as the member is enrolled in a course of the Trademark Administrator Program.

Examination

Once you have completed all 4 courses, you may sit for the online exam offered twice per year, in the spring and the fall.

The first exam will be offered in 2019.
