Our Intellectual Property practice group is recognised as one of the leading teams in Canada, and our team is looking to grow!  Demands on our services have created the need for Associates to join our offices, where there are significant opportunities for development and career advancement. We are therefore seeking one or more Associates for each of our Montréal and Toronto offices, and would also be open to considering candidates for our Guelph, Ottawa or Québec City offices given our national team structure.

The Role

The successful candidates will join a national patent prosecution team with a proven track record for providing high quality patent drafting and prosecution services to a loyal client base, both local and international, and for developing new work from a quality business clientele. 

Skills and Experience Required

The successful candidate will be a registered Patent Agent with a background in mechanical engineering. A law degree is optional but would be an asset.

The ideal candidate will also:

  • have over 5 years’ experience representing clients in a private practice or in-house legal environment with a focus on intellectual property;
  • have superior writing and oral communication skills;
  • have the ability to explain complex technical information clearly and good analytical skills;
  • be a team player with excellent interpersonal skills;
  • have commercial awareness and ability to build excellent relationships with clients;
  • be a self-starter who can work under pressure, manage multiple projects, meet inflexible deadlines on own initiative and find creative solutions to problems.

Bilingualism will be an asset for our offices in the province of Quebec.
