Statement of Purpose

You are invited to attend the 2013 Canadian PCT Roundtable being held on
October 28 and 29, 2013 in Gatineau, Quebec.

In an effort to ensure that users of the PCT system in Canada continue to have a forum to communicate effectively with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO) on a range of issues relating to PCT, you, or a representative of your firm, are invited to take part in the 2013 Canadian PCT Roundtable. The Roundtable is being hosted this year by Borden Ladner Gervais; MBM; MOSAID; and Ridout & Maybee LLP, with the collaboration of CIPO and  the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada (IPIC).  Also, this year we are again privileged to have representatives from both the European Patent Office (EPO) and the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) in attendance.

The Roundtable has the full cooperation and support of officials of WIPO, CIPO, EPO and the USPTO who are fully committed to participate in the exchange of ideas with members of the Roundtable. We are hopeful that you will wish to participate in this worthwhile event.

Please note that the Roundtable should not be considered primarily educational. Roundtable members must have two plus (2+) years of PCT International filing experience or knowledge. The purpose of this group is to promote the exchange of ideas on PCT and foreign patent administrative practice, and provide feedback and suggestions to WIPO and CIPO in order to facilitate and improve the PCT process.

The Roundtable runs for two days with participation by WIPO, CIPO, EPO, and the USPTO. Although there is no registration fee, attendees are required to coordinate their own reservations regarding travel, accommodation and cost of meals, including an optional dinner being held on the evening of Monday, October 28, 2013. All costs of attendance will be the responsibility of each attendee/firm. Breakfast and breaks, however, will be provided on both days by our hosts.
