Statement of Purpose

Dinner at the Keg Manor

You are invited to attend the 2017 Canadian PCT Roundtable which will be held on October 23 and 24, 2017 at the Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO) in Gatineau, Quebec.

In an effort to ensure that users of the PCT system in Canada continue to have a forum to communicate effectively with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO) on a range of issues relating to PCT, you, or a representative of your firm, are invited to take part in the 2017 Canadian PCT Roundtable. The Roundtable is being sponsored this year by Borden Ladner Gervais LLP, OPEN IP Corporation, Fogler Rubinoff LLP, Daniels IP Services Ltd and ChoiTechAndLaw Professional Corporation, with the collaboration of CIPO and  the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada (IPIC). This year we are privileged to have representatives from the European Patent Office (EPO), the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) as well as participation from Panawell and Synaptive Medical.

The Roundtable has the full cooperation and support of the officials from WIPO, CIPO, EPO and the USPTO, and representatives from Panawell and Synaptive Medical who are fully committed to participate in the exchange of ideas with members of the Roundtable. We are hopeful that you will wish to participate in this worthwhile event.

Please note that the Roundtable should not be considered primarily educational. Roundtable members must have two plus (2+) years of PCT international filing experience or knowledge. The purpose of this group is to promote the exchange of ideas on PCT and foreign patent administrative practice, and to provide feedback and suggestions to WIPO and CIPO in order to facilitate and improve the PCT process.

The Roundtable runs for two days with participation of WIPO, CIPO, EPO, USPTO, Panawell, and Synaptive Medical. Although there is no registration fee, attendees are required to coordinate their own reservations regarding travel, accommodation and cost of meals, including an optional dinner which will be held on the evening of Monday, October 23, 2017. All costs of attendance will be the responsibility of each attendee/firm. Breakfast and breaks, however, will be provided on both days by our sponsors.
