We are pleased to announce the appointment of Shelley Jones as our Director of Stakeholder Relations, effective January 3, 2018. Shelley has been a member of the Institute since 2001 and a Fellow since 2014. She is a trademark agent and past in-house and private practice professional.
“We are thrilled to have Shelley join the IPIC team. This new position will help IPIC achieve our Outreach & Awareness goal identified in our 2018-2020 Strategic Plan” said Adam Kingsley, IPIC’s Executive Director. Mr. Kingsley went on to say that “Given Shelley’s outgoing personality and her experience as an in-house IP professional for a large Canadian company, her skillset is a custom fit for the needs of IPIC in building new relationships with the business community. Shelley’s efforts will be instrumental to raising awareness of the value of IP for business planning, and for IPIC’s efforts to increase the IP literacy levels of Canadian entrepreneurs and business leaders.”
Shelley was called to the Ontario Bar in 2010 and has been a registered trademark agent since 2002. She is experienced in protecting global brands with a focus on trademark and copyright infringement, domain name disputes, and anti-counterfeiting. She is past Chair of IPIC’s Internet Committee and serves on IPIC’s Anti-Counterfeiting and Professional Regulation Committees.
“IP is a key element of an innovation economy and IPIC is the leading voice for IP professionals in Canada. I am excited to be joining the organization as its Director of Stakeholder Relations and look forward to working with business, educators, government, and others to promote awareness of the value of IP and strengthen stakeholder partnerships.” said Shelley Jones.
